Traveling (Online Reservation): Are you managing your trip online?

Traveling has truly been revolutionized in the past 15 years by the onset of the Internet becoming an essential, everyday part of our lives. What use to take timely phone calls or visits to a travel agent or airline desk is now a relatively simple task that can be taken care of between checking your email and chatting with your friends online. Gone is the mystical world of making reservations with limited options on price and uncertainty of available flight schedules. Instead with a couple of clicks any person can be on their way to opening up their world to new experiences and memories.

So the question, do you use online travel websites? If so, which one(s)? Do you take advantage of the huge online presence that the travel industry has to offer?

  1. I started using travel websites over 10 years ago and I haven't looked back since. When I use to travel a lot, I would either book a flight on one of the direct websites, like united.com or if the price was cheaper I would usually book on one of the merchant sites like expedia.com.

I remember having to painstakingly call up airlines or book trips through travel agents, which took up so much time and money! I never knew if I was truly getting the deal I was looking for, so it is nice to be able to have the control in my hands.

Since I don't travel as frequently as I once did, when I do travel I now take advantage of community based sites that give reviews on the destinations I'm interested in. It makes me feel like more of a key play and contributor when planning a vacation!
